Neier is a trucking company that is located on the southwest side of Indianapolis, IN. We started operations in 1989 and remain family owned & operated. We are seeking a quality professional Shop Manager to oversee or maintenance personnel and fleet maintenance program.

  • COMPETTIVE COMPENSATION & WEEKLY PAY
    Our Shop Managers will receive competitive salary compensation based upon their previous experience. Employees can expect to receive weekly pay and select whether they would like that to be on Direct Deposit or Paper Check.
  • CONSISTENT WORK – MAINTAINING PRIVATE FLEET
    Neier Shop Managers will oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department. Shop Managers will assist shift supervisors in delegating tasks to employees, ordering parts, and providing guidance on best approach for repairs. Neier’s fleet consists of nearly 70 Kenworth tractors and nearly 200 trailers (tankers, vans, and roll-offs).

Responsibilities

  • ENSURE THE SAFETY OF NEIER. INC. MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
    Safety must always be the top priority. The Shop Manager will oversee all members of the Maintenance Department making sure they are always following the proper safety procedures to prevent injury to themselves or others.
    The Shop Manager must be capable of functioning as a mentor to members of the maintenance department, assisting technicians with trouble-shooting and problem-solving. Communication with Shift Supervisors and direct observation of employees will ensure that work is being completed correctly.
  • ENSURE & MAINTAIN COMPLIANCE OF EQUIPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH DOT REGULATIONS
    The Shop Manager will communicate Preventative Maintenance and Annual DOT Inspection Schedules with all shop personnel to ensure that the appropriate work is completed. Communication between the Shop Manager, Neier, Inc. Dispatch, and Safety & Compliance will happen on a regular basis to arrange for necessary on-the-road services/repairs or to communicate VIK testing requirements.
  • CONTROL REPAIR, INVENTORY, & LABOR COSTS FOR ALL EQUIPMENT
    The Shop Manager should actively be engaged in monitoring the productivity of the maintenance department and anticipating various needs of the shop. Communication with the Vice President on operating costs of equipment and personnel are crucial to the growth of the company. A strong Shop Manager will be able to identify trends, areas of concern, and come up with solutions or strategies to control cost without jeopardizing safety.
  • ASSIST WITH EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWNS & ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE FOR COMPANY EQUIPMENT
    Provide support to drivers that are experiencing equipment breakdowns and may be in need of roadside assistance. Gather the necessary information from the driver to determine the nature of the defect and determine best course of action to remedy the problem. Communicate with Neier Dispatch regarding any customer delays and keep the driver up-to-date on the status of the repair.
  • HIRING MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL
    The Neier Shop Manager will assist the Human Resources Director in Interviewing all maintenance department employees.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 Years of Verifiable Diesel Mechanic Experience is Preferred
    Previous hands-on experience as a Diesel Mechanic and working knowledge of a variety of equipment types will be very beneficial in this position.
  • 3 Years Previous Supervisory Experience
    Shop Managers should have previous experiencing overseeing all aspects of shop operations, be able to identify trends, needs, and implement solutions/processes to ensure productivity and overall success of the company.
  • Comfortable Working with Microsoft Office Suites & Cummins Insight
    The Shop Manager will utilize Microsoft Office Suite for reporting and communication purposes. Cummins Insight is available for our maintenance personnel to assist in diagnostic trouble-shooting and programming. In addition to proficiency in the above-mentioned program, the Shop Manager should display excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Class A CDL is Preferred, although Not Required
