Neier is a trucking company that is located on the southwest side of Indianapolis, IN. We started operations in 1989 and remain family owned & operated. We are seeking quality professional Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisors to help maintain our fleet of around 70 power units and nearly 200 van & tanker units and oversee the daily performance of their shift.

- COMPETTIVE COMPENSATION & WEEKLY PAY
Our Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisors will receive competitive hourly compensation depending upon their previous experience. Employees can expect to receive weekly pay and select whether they would like that to be on Direct Deposit or Paper Check.
- CONSISTENT WORK – MAINTAINING PRIVATE FLEET
Neier Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisors will oversee the daily functions of the mechanics on their assigned shift and will also conduction hands-on work primarily on Company-owned equipment. Our Supervisors will be expected to ensure that their assigned shift is running efficiently while never jeopardizing safety. We are a fleet of Kenworth tractors and have a variety of trailer types, including: tankers, vans, & roll-offs.

- COMMUNICATION WITH MANAGEMENT
Neier Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisors will communicate regularly with members of management. Supervisors are expected to bring any safety-related concerns, personnel issues, or departmental needs to management’s attention.
- COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER SHIFTS
Each shift Supervisor will have communication with the other shift Supervisors to discuss what work has been conducted, known problems, upcoming work that is scheduled, or parts that may be on order. In addition to communication with management, shift supervisors, and mechanics assigned on their shifts, Supervisors can expect to be points of contact to drivers arriving at the Neier terminal. Shift Supervisors, may from time-to-time have communication with the Neier Dispatch department keeping them informed on any repair delays that may impact the Neier drivers and customer satisfaction.
- DELEGATION OF TASKS
A strong Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisor will be able to easily identify the strengths and weaknesses of each mechanic assigned to their shift. The Supervisor will assign work according to each individual’s skill set; this will allow the shop to run safely and efficiently while turning out the highest quality of work. Supervisors should make themselves available to fellow mechanics for problem-solving and coaching sessions.
- PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE
Neier Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisors will work side-by-side with the mechanics assigned to their shift assisting in maintaining the Preventative Maintenance Program of the Neier fleet. This hands-on work helps to strengthen morale throughout the Neier shop as well as provide opportunities for the Shift Supervisor to constantly assess each mechanic’s skill set and growth.
Shift Supervisors should display a strong problem-solving capability. Shift Supervisors will often provide guidance to the mechanics assigned to their shift encouraging open communication and fostering an environment for growth.
- PARTS REPAIR & REPLACEMENT
Neier expects mechanics to be able to observe all components of the equipment they are assigned on and make a proper determination on what parts should be repaired or replaced. From time-to-time Shift Supervisors may need to provide guidance to their mechanics on the best approach to complete the repair.
- WRITTEN VEHICLE MAINTENANCE RECORDS
Mechanics will be responsible for turning in their written maintenance records at the end of each shift, or upon completion of assigned task. Mechanics should have the capability of completing a clear and concise Repair Order.
- ANNUAL VEHICLE INSPECTIONS
When a Mechanic’s previous professional experience qualifies them to complete Annual DOT Inspections, Neier will utilize these individuals to ensure proper documentation on Annual DOT Inspections.
- WELDING & FABRICATING
Depending upon the mechanic’s previous skill set and work assignment, there may be occasional welding or fabricating. Previous experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding will be beneficial.
Qualifications & Skills
- 2 years of Verifiable Diesel Mechanic Experience is Preferred
Mechanics will be assigned work and hourly compensation according to their previous experience and skill set. Formal Diesel Mechanic education/courses is not required, but is a benefit.
- Previous Supervisory Experience
Diesel Mechanic Shift Supervisor should have previous experience overseeing other mechanics and the daily operations of the shift that they were assigned.
- Basic Set of Tools
Neier will provide the mechanics with shared use of any tools over 1 ½ inches. Mechanics are expected to supply their own set of tools and will be provided with a location in the shop for their private tool chest.
- Reliable Transportation
The Neier shop will run most efficiently when each team member does their part. Mechanics are expected to be punctual and arrive in a readiness to work.
